The Old Town Square with the Astronomical Clock
One of the most striking buildings in Prague is the Old Town Hall with an outstanding astronomical clock. Other dominant feature of the Old Town Square is the Church of Our Lady Before Tyn. The Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo buildings are well complemented by Art Nouveau structures as well as unique examples of the Cubist style all around the square.
Charles Bridge
The best known stone bridge of Prague is the Charles Bridge with its statues; it makes the historical connection in between the left and the right bank of the Vltava River and between the Lesser Quarter and the Old town of Prague.
Prague Castle
The Prague Castle area – a former town called Hradcany. At Hradcany it is recommended to visit Strahov Library and Monastery, Loreta – a pilgrimage place for Roman Catholics, St. Vitus Cathedral, the best example of the Gothic style in our country, The Old Royal Palace from the15th century, Basilica of St. George - the only preserved Romanesque piece of architecture in the Castle, Golden Lane - a picturesque lane full of legends with a house no.22, where Franz Kafka stayed.
Jewish Quarter
The Jewish town of Prague called Josefov consists of the Old-New synagogue, the oldest synagogue in Europe, the Old Jewish cemetery, the Town hall and other synagogues.
State Opera
The Prague State Opera was opened as a Prague German stage with the performance of Wagner’s opera in 1888. Nowadays with its spacious auditorium and neo-Rococo decoration, this theatre building belongs among the most beautiful in Europe.
